Things are growing apace at Gnome Corner. The corn may not be as high as an elephant’s eye, but it looks as though there will be lots of it. We are really pleased by the way this has progressed from little slips to a forest of waving tassels.
There are also aubergines swelling visibly, and some sort of squash or melon (we don’t know which, we lost the label) is running riot over the pallet wall.
The blackberry season is upon us and the wild brambles that I trained along wires at the side of the drive are proving worth the trouble. The first blackberry and apple crumble of the season was eaten with relish (well. with ice-cream, actually) just a few days ago.
